Trio Update ~Alissa

Hello everybody
There really are palm trees in Florida! It is beautiful down there. Their plants are totally different from the ones that we have up here in Oregon!

Another thing that I found intriguing were the little lizards that would scurry across the walkways when I was walking. They were so cute; I loved them! We don’t have lizards up here, so I was seriously weighing the risks and advantages of attempting to smuggle a couple back home. (I decided I’d better not give my sister Clarissa and my Mom a heart attack. So much for the perfect pets I would have had!)

Can you see the little lizard?

Thursday afternoon, us girls went to the Youth class together, but on Wednesday morning, Clarissa and I joined the Earliteen group. After a morning session, we all loaded the buses and headed out on the scheduled off-site activity. First, we dropped by the fire station to watch one of their men demonstrate how to put a fire out, then we walked over to the EOS station. ( EOS stands for Emergency Operational Services.) Next came 8 hours of Disaster Relief training. After lunch, we headed out to practice our new skills. For about an hour, I walked around the neighborhood, entering the information required for each house in my cell-phone. Then, the buses took us back to the EOS again to drop off the tools. Sabbath morning, I held my certificate in my hands. Now, when another disaster occurs, I can skip a few days of training, and go right to the center of action. It was worth it!

Sabbath evening was our performance. I love sharing our songs with others! My sisters and I sang “All Creatures of Our God and King.” Sorry to all of you who were hoping to watch us live on the computer. The schedules got mixed up, and so you may not have caught us. There is a solution, though: Keep checking on the blog spot. We will upload the performance recorded from my mom’s camera. (Actually, my mom posted it before I posted this update so just check the Performance post.)
